Lower North Island, New Zealand

In March this year we decided to explore some of the lower half of North Island in New Zealand.
We headed from Hamilton for the Forgotten Highway that goes from SH 4 to Stratford, with the compulsory stop at Whangamomona.

We then headed to New Plymouth and had a lovely cycle along the water front.  The cycle/walking path is just amazing and I highly recommend it.

Came across an old ship wreck on the coast as we headed south. Then stayed at a mates hut in the Ruahine Ranges, that was very cool.

To the bottom of the North Island a visit to the light house at Cape Palliser.

Then up to Stone Henge Aotearoa, a very interesting spot, a guided tour is recommended. This is near Carterton.

At castle Point it seems to be big boys toys .
